Jody is in his forties and runs a map store. Not one for the outside world, he stays in his store all the time. His friend, Carl is in his late thirties and has been bringing chairs of dead friends into Jody’s store and leaving them there. When Jody needs to take an AIDS test, Carl tries to convince him it is not only okay to leave the store but also that he must take responsibility for his life. If he doesn’t, he will join the set of chairs that Carl has taken great pains to place in the right spots around the store. A funny and touching play that speaks to the sense of dread and loneliness in the time of AIDS, LONELY PLANET also resonates deeply in this time of Covid-19. Lakeside Community Theatre is proud to present this remarkable work, rehearsed and filmed following the strictest of Covid safety protocols. It is a play for the ages, both past and present.

To our Theatre Community, Friends and Family of Lakeside Community Theatre:

After weighing the many scenarios to determine the most viable and responsible way to move forward, during the current COVID-19 pandemic, we are extremely disappointed to announce that we must cancel the remainder of our current season. This is the path that the Board of Directors has chosen in order to keep our patrons, actors, volunteers and community safe. This decision has not been easy, however, we found this to be the best direction to move in during these difficult times.

We plan on coming back bigger and stronger for our new season! Stay tuned for some special events during 2021 through social media, to be viewed from the safety of your own home. Stay connected with us for these special announcements!

Stand by for our 20th SEASON, starting this fall.

Thank you to our loyal patrons, volunteers, sponsors, advertisers, and donors. It is a tough time for our country, the performing arts community, and especially those who have already been touched by this illness personally. Please stay safe and healthy.

We look forward to seeing you once again when we are all back together.
